  • Livin' it up...lol

Today I wore my pajamas all day.  My blood sugar was 98 fasting, hate me if you want.  I opened all the windows in the house & let some fresh air in.  I changed the cat box.  I dreamed of taking a vacation, to Aruba.  I worried about bills & the lack of money.  I missed my husband, a bunch.  My heart broke today when I had to tell Evan that his daddy was gone to work...for two weeks.  I hated seeing him cry.  I picked my mother in law up from work. Arrived early to get Colton from school (still in my pajamas).  Reached my boiling point with negative people.  I've worried about my weight.  I've wanted a nap sooo bad.  My body craves sleep & noodles.  I went out in the yard & enjoyed the beautiful weather, still in my pajamas.  I cooked spaghetti for supper, it was easy & quick.  I broke into my mother in law's house when she locked herself out.  Thank goodness Colton is small enough to fit through a window!  I let Evan wear Rainey's pink boots just b/c I didn't feel like it was worth the fight.  I've talked to God more than usual today.  I am amazed by how smart Colton is & how big he is getting.  I laughed at Rainey, she is such a little momma.  Life is good.  =)

  • Changes

Its been a little over nine years since Dan & I first met.  Our story is nothing short of a story book romance.  The Prince rides in on his white horse (white camaro in this case) & saves the Princess (that would be me).  Things happened so fast, but looking back...it all happened that way for a reason.  Funny how we can look back & things that made no sense at the time, make perfect sense now.  I can see the hand of God at work in our lives. So much has happened in the years since we first met & fell in love.  Our lives together have been a whirlwind to say the least.  After a year of taking fertility medicine & thinking we would never be able to have children, we found out we were pregnant with Colton.  It was one of the happiest days in our life.  Becoming parents was a dream that we shared from the very beginning & it was now a reality.  Our dream didn't stop with just one child though, we wanted more.  After two years of fertility meds, we finally conceived with Rainey.  Again, we were so happy & knew that we had been blessed.  When Rainey was born, our family seemed complete for a while.  When Rainey turned one, we decided to try again.  Although we weren't exactly ready to become pregnant, our past track record would indicate that getting pregnant would take a while.  After just one round of medication, to our suprise, we were pregnant.  It was so easy this time & we were in complete shock.  I wasn't ready to be pregnant again.  Pregnancy is not fun & the C-section as the means to getting the baby out was definately dreaded this time.  Funny how everything is all hunky dorey with that first pregnancy & even the second.  I really had no worries with Colton & Rainey. This third time, seemed like there was so much more to think about.  I guess the reality of how uncertain & scary pregnancy can be really hit me this time.  Thankfully, Evan arrived without complications & our family was again complete.  Now, its kinda funny how parenthood changes a couple.  It almost seemed that over night, we went from a couple who would enjoy an occational night out to dinner & movie to a family of five in the mini van at the drive through.  We often laugh about not taking our children out in public & how a night out for us is going through the drive through & parking in the parking lot for dinner.  I guess its all in the way you look at things.  If anyone knows me well, they know that I am a person who sees the humor & the bright side of all situations.  I try to laugh no matter what & I don't like to be too serious.  Its something that I have tried to teach my children.  Life isn't about what you do, or how you do it....its all about your attitude & who you have beside you.  Dan & I both feel that the best gift that we can or ever will give our children, is the gift of family.  What more can you ask for in this life, to have someone who knows you better than any other & who will always be on your side.  That is what we have given our children.  Yeah, we may not be able to afford the best for them.  They may have clothes from the Consignment shop & they may wear "Parents Choice" diapers (which I LOVE!) but they have each other.  They will have a family long after Dan & I are gone & although they may fight like the dickens, they love each other & that is what counts.  They have often been heard begging for more siblings.  Dan & I just have to laugh.   Deep down, we want a big family.  We want more than anything to give our children that stability & give them another sibling to love.  Now that Evan is two, we've often considered getting pregnant.  But again, the reality of having to take the fertility drugs & then having to have another C-Section is scary.  Do we really want to risk trying for another baby when we have been so blessed already?  Its like playing Russian Roulet.  We have our children to think about, not to mention my health.  What would having another pregnancy & C-Section do to my body.  Its not like I'm in good health as it is.  After much prayer & going back & forth, Dan & I decided to give it to God.  Ok, honestly, I've never really used birth control & the odds of getting pregnant on our own are like hardly existant....right?  We are not going to use fertility meds again & if it happens, it happens & we will be happy.  But it won't happen right????  Umm, wrong.  We found out yesterday after much speculation on my part.  That is right, we are pregnant.  LOL, what else can you do right?  That is what Dan & I did.  At first, the protector in me didn't want to tell anyone.  We'll just wait until we know that everything is going to be ok before we tell anyone.  I don't want to get the kids all excited & then have to break their little hearts when something goes wrong.  The odds of something going wrong are great you know.  So many things can happen & not all little peanuts turn into healthy live babies in the end.  Well, Dan wanted to tell people.  He says that we need all the prayer we can get & he is right.  Why not let people pray for us now, why wait until something has happened.  He is very excited & vows that after this baby, he is going to get the "sniaparoo".  I am happy too.  I've kinda known for a week or so.  If the psycho hormones & extreme sleepiness arent' enough to clue me in, it was definately the fact that I was drinking chocolate milk by the half a gallon daily & eating chicken out of the can.  OK, THAT IS NOT NOMRMAL!  So, I want you guys to know that we know how serious this is.  We know the risks.  We know all about the financial obligation.  I'm a nervous wreck just thinking about it all, but I'm a happy nervous wreck.  Please be happy for us & keep us in your prayers.  I haven't been to the doctor yet but I think our baby should be due sometime in the end of April.  This pregnancy is a blessing.  This baby is something that we prayed about & handed over to God.  Oh & Rainey says that if we have a girl, her name is going to be "Sally" Ha Ha Ha, no!

  • Trip to Oxford

Ok, so this is for those of you who enjoy reading my updates (mostly family)....  We just got home from Oxford, MS.  The kids & I left on Sat. morning about 10AM, stopped by Mom's house & picked she & Rhiannon up.  We stopped off in Jackson to eat & let Colton see the 2010 Camaro that the Chevy Dealership had just got in.  Colton is totally fascinated with cars, mostly muscle cars & the new Camaro & Challenger.  He was so excited b/c he got to look at the engine & he also got to sit in the drivers seat.  After leaving Jackson, we set in for the long ride to Oxford.  Ofcourse we stopped a few times along the way for bathroom breaks.  I'll say that we got to Oxford around 4:30 that evening.  The streets in Oxford are quite different from Collins.  Thankfully we had our good ole handy dandy GPS!  When we arrived at the Downtown Oxford Inn &Suites, I got out & checked us in.  Paul & Ginger had fixed their out of town guests up a neat little goodie bag with a map, Oxford brochures, bottled water, fresh baked cookies & bubbles for the kids.  That was the neatest idea.  Anyway, so we hurried to our room which was a suite b/c there were so many of us.  Rhiannon & I rushed & got ourselves & Colton & Rainey ready.  We missed the shuttle to the wedding so we had to drive ourselves.  We drove right outside of Oxford to drop Colton & Rainey off at the "Kids Camp".  Ginger & Paul were so thoughtful that they set up a special place for all the kids to go where they would play games, watch movies & eat.  It was an awesome little set up in the downstairs basement apartment of this huge house their friends own.  Rainey & Colton were so happy to see Presley, their cousin there.  After dropping them off, Rhiannon & I hurried to a small town outside of Oxford called Taylor.  We arrived at the church with ten minutes to spare.  The church was very old & simple.  There was nothing fancy about this church, it just breathed simplicity.  There were old pews & scuffed up hard wood floors, bead board on the walls & one stained glass window.  I totally loved its charm.  There wasn't much in the way of decoration, it was very simple. The crowd at the church was fairly small, just close family & friends.  Paul walked in with his family.  He wore a tan/khaki suit.  Ginger walked in with her family as well.  She looked beautiful in her hand maid "Breakfast at Tiffany's" style cream colored taffita dress.  She even had the cutest cream patten peep toe shoes to go with it.  I believe her boquet was made of hydrangias & other flowers but I didn't really pay that much attention to the flowers.  She blew me away with that dress.  The ceremony was very simple & intimate.  They looked so happy & in love. After the wedding, we all gathered outside for a group photo before making our way to the reception.  The people who rode the shuttle got on the bus & we followed behind in my car.  The reception was awesome.  It was at a place called "The Ravine".  The Ravine was closed for the reception so it was just us there.  Upon walking in, we checked out the seating chart so we would know where to sit.  Ginger & Paul took great consideration in picking out the seating arrangements.  There was a reason they put us with the people they did.  We would later find this out when it came time to eat.  For about an hour or so we had drinks (wine & beer from a Mississippi Brewery) & snacks.  There is a fancy name for it but I don't know exactly how to spell it, but you know what I am talking about.  The food was excellent.  There was a live band there as well.  We finally made our way to our table where we found that we were seated with Ginger's sisters.  The neatest little oragami birds were on our tables with our names on them.  Paul made them, just another awesome touch.  Ofcourse our table was the most awesome of all ;).  We enjoyed great conversation & lots of laughs while we dined.  We had a choice of either a salad or soup.  I chose the salad which was amazing.  It was dark greens with toasted pecans, cranberries & some kind of vinegarette.  It was the perfect mix between sweet & salty.  For our main course we could choose from steak, chicken or salmon.  We chose the Salmon & ofcourse, it was awesome.  For dessert it was either chocolate ganache cake or homemade butter pecan ice cream or mango sorbet.  It was around 10:00 before we knew it.  The reception was absolutely amazing.  Paul & Ginger took great care to see that their guests enjoyed themselves & we did.  Rhiannon & I left before most people b/c we had to go get the kids.  Again, although directions were included...thank you GPS!  Colton was asleep when we arrived but Rainey was still awake.  They had a wonderful time making airplanes, playing with the tea set & watching movies.  Their dinner was pizza, their favorite.  Evan stayed at the hotel with Mom.  I knew there was no way he would stay with a stranger so I didn't even try.  They walked around the square in Oxford which is also awesome.  They looked in the shops & picked a pizza parlor to eat at.  Evan was asleep when we got back to the hotel.  I slept in the bed with Evan, as I do here at the hosue.  Mom slept by herself in  the bed next to mine.  In the living room, the couch pulled out into a queen size bed. Rhiannon, Colton & Rainey slept there.  It was well after midnight when we got to sleep.  The beds were so comfy, not like other hotels & it was really clean.  We all slept great.  Upon waking up, Mom, the kids & I walked down to breakfast where we met Dad, Kathy, Uncle Jim, Aunt Tomoko & much of Ginger's family.  Then we went to the pool to let Colton swim.  Before we knew it, it was time to check out.  So we hurried, packed up & checked out.  Paul & Ginger's flight for Las Vegas did not leave until this evening so they wanted to have brunch with the family before leaving.  Brunch was at a place called "Larry's" in the square.  We stopped by & said our goodbyes.  Then we got in the car & headed home.  Oxford is a really neat place.  Aside from the confusing roads, its shops, bars & restaurants make it awesome.  It has many beautiful historic homes & lots of stuff to do.  I only wish we could have stayed longer.  Anyway.  So the kids did great on the road trip & the drive wasn't too bad.  Soo, thats our trip.  =)  We had a great time & pray that God blesses Paul & Ginger with many happy years together.

    I'm finally home!

Not that too many of you knew that I was even gone...but I'm home now.  Hopefully we won't be taking any more trips for a while.

So you are wondering where I have been & why.  Well, it all goes back to April, when Lucy gave birth to her adorable little Puggle puppies.  Nine puppies were born & are now old enough to go to new homes b/c Lord knows, I don't have enough patience for three kids & nine puppies & a husband!  So I listed them online & got five bites.  A nice lady from New Jersey, a family from Tuscaloosa & a guy & a girl from Destin, FL.  Due to the heat, the puppies were  unable to fly to New Jersey in the cargo area of the plane.  Dan & I love to see new places, so we told the lady that if she paid for our gas we would meet her part of the way in VA.  So we planned a trip last week, dropped the puppy off in Tuscaloosa, went on to Knoxville for the night & then on to Virginia the next day.  After handing off the reamaining puppies, we went back to Gatlinburg for the night.  We stayed in a really affordable place right in the middle of everything- Best Western Twin Islands, had a pool, kiddie pool & playground plus a balcony over the stream.  We went to the aquarium that night which was awesome.  The kids absolutely loved it.  Colton's favorite was the sharks but I loved the blue frog & the Sea Dragon.  I thought about Aunt Wendy & Uncle Jack a lot while we were in the mountains.  We kept running into those "biker" people everywhere we went!  LOL I guess there is some kind of "dragon" road or something up there.  Anyway. The next day we went on several nature hikes, played in a few mountain streams & headed to Chattanooga for the night.  The next day we went to Rock City & then came home.

We were home for a day before we left for Destin, FL with the other puppies.  What can I say?  It was an excuse to take a mini vacation!  We left early, got to Destin around noon & then went to the beach for the afternoon.  Rainey has come a long way from being terrified of the sand!  It was so pleasant watching the kids play.  For once they were all laughing & playing, no fighting at all.  Rainey & Evan would giggle as they ran along the waters edge.  They love playing in the sand too.  Colton didn't care about anything but playing in the waves & getting "wiped out" by them.  Rainey & Evan totally loved playing in the ocean too but Dan & I had to hold them.  It made my heart happy watching them play, it was awesome.  Soo, today we went to Fudpuckers for lunch.  Who knew that they have a place where they do gator shows & tell about the alligators??  Had to have been fifty or more baby alligators all sunning on the decks in the gator exibit.  We even got to take a picture with one.  Dan held it ofcourse & its mouth was taped so that it couldn't bite us.  It was not a happy gator, but he sure made a good picture!  Evan held his tail in the picture.  Rainey wasn't scared to pet his back either but Colton wouldn't touch it.  After that we went on to the Bass Pro Shop in Mobile, or right outside of Mobile anyway.  There, Rainey spotted a pink rifle which she threw a fit for.  She proclaimed that she & I are going to go deer hunting with our pink guns.  We've definately got a redneck woman on our hands & I don't know how she has gotten that way!  We walked around looking at all the stuffed animals & fish for about an hour before we left & headed home.  It was really nice to have a little vacation, even though we were delivering dogs.  We never would have had the money if it wasn't for the puppys in the first place though.  So I am glad to be home.  I'm glad school is out & we can sleep late for a little while.  Wish the whole family could take another vacation like Panama City though.

  • life on McDonald Hill

Soo we went shopping last night to get the kids some warm weather clothes.  This weather has been crazy, 30 one night & then 80 the next day.  So I figured it would be smart to go ahead & get a few outfits per kid along with some flip flops & sandals.  Colton has gotten so big.  He has his own sense of style.  He had to pick out his own clothes!  He likes the "rocker" look with the skull & crossbones & all.  I can't blame him though, I think its cute.  I even have my own pair of tights with pink hearts & crossbones on them. =)

Anyway,  Colton has been complaining that his Bible does not have the Old Testament.  So I guess I am going to have to go out & get him one that does.  He has been learning Bible verses in school & his teacher has them read from their own Bible most days.  I never even knew he had taken it to school with him.  He is really excited about starting pony ball in a few weeks.

Rainey should be starting T-ball soon too.  I have started making an effort to dress her a little cuter.  If she is going to run with the boys, she can atleast look cute & have a pretty little bow in her hair!

Evan is such a copycat.  He does just what they do, says what they say too.  He is becoming quite the little conversationalist if you can understand what he is saying.  He isn't a baby anymore, he is a little boy now.

We have a new cat.  I rescued her from the tree & saved her from the dogs.  She originally belonged to my brother in law but b/c she was scared to come out of the tree, he said that there was something wrong with her & said to let the dogs have her.  Now I couldn't do that.  So Charlie is now an inside cat & she is very well behaved too.  Its almost as if she knows how lucky she is. She hasn't even tried to go outside.  She even tolerates Evan well.  Evan seems to think she needs to go potty all the time.  He is constantly picking her up, especially when she is eating & he takes her to the cat box.  She doesn't mind too much though.

So thats it for now.  Hope everyone is doing well & Mama, I'm praying for you!
